Stanton: Ed Hoover post race report

STANTON, MI. - A glowing red-light and a dejected look on Ed Hoover's face pretty much explained the kind of luck that the Pro Modified veteran has had lately. That's exactly what transpired during the recently completed IHRA CARQUEST Northern Nationals hosted by the Mid-Michigan Motorplex located in Stanton, MI. It looked as if the line-lock didn't hold, which explained while Hoover's, Paul Trussell-owned 1963 Corvette seemed to never really stop rolling while staging.

The season started out on a bright spot for Hoover as he stormed to an impressive win at the Prolong Winter Nationals in Darlington, SC., over Tommy Gray. It's been tough ever since.

"I don't know what it is," explained Hoover, who is credited with winning the first-ever IHRA Pro Modified back in 1990. " But, I know we haven't had much luck lately. It just seems like lately we can't get a break. Maybe Norwalk will be better for us."

Norwalk provided good memories for Hoover last season. The Gilbert, SC.-based driver ended a winning dry-spell by topping the Pro Modified contingent for the first time since 1992 when he defeated Scotty Cannon for the North American Nationals crown. Last year, Hoover not only won the Mopar Parts World Nationals, but also added another victory at the President's Cup Nationals a month later.

"I feel like we'll do well at Norwalk. That track has been good to us and was especially kind to us last year. I see no reason why things should change. Norwalk was where our luck changed last season, I hope we encounter a case of dejà vu."
