Le Mans:
Audi triumphs with TDI Power

AUDI AG has written an important chapter in the history of motor racing with its historic triumph in the Le Mans 24 Hour race. The new Audi R10 TDI was the first diesel car to win arguably the toughest car race in the world. In front of a record crowd of 235,000 spectators, Frank Biela (Germany), Emanuele Pirro (Italy) and Marco Werner (Germany) clinched the sixth and most important Le Mans win for Audi so far. Dindo Capello (Italy), Tom Kristensen (Denmark) and Allan McNish (Scotland) also achieved a podium in finishing third overall.

The fans on the race track and a worldwide audience of millions of TV viewers saw an impressive demonstration of Audi TDI Power and the performance of modern diesel engines. The brace of Audi R10 TDI cars, powered by a 650 hp V12 TDI engine, were by far the fastest and most economical cars. During the entire race, one of the new diesel sportscars from Ingolstadt was at the head of the field. Le Mans record winner Tom Kristensen drove the fastest lap of the race, setting a 3m 31.211s time, and he was the first driver at the wheel of an LM P1 sportscar to cover 16 laps with one fuel load. Completing 380 laps, Audi also set a new distance record.

DTM presents itself in Brands Hatch

To give people a first impression of the fourth DTM round at Brands Hatch (2 July), the DTM presents itself to the public and journalists next Friday. Tom Kristensen, who is leading the championship after his win in Oschersleben, and his team mate Vanina Ickx, will be at the race track for questions and talks from 11:00 hrs. Another highlight will be the appearance of former Formula 1 champion Damon Hill who will test a DTM car on the circuit. From 17:00 hrs in the afternoon all drivers will join together for an autograph session in the "Alex Read Store" in the city of London. The spectators at Le Mans also got a good impression of the DTM. Before the start of the 24 hour race, Tom Kristensen did some demonstration laps, start practices and donuts for the crowds in the grandstands. The DTM is coming to race on the Bugatti Circuit on 15 October.

STCC:
Audi stays cool in chaotic race

In a race where not even half of the field made it to the finish line, Audi driver Thed Bjork defended his lead in the Swedish Touring Car Championship. Having started from eighth place on the grid, Bjork made his way to seventh place in his Audi A4 STCC. His team mates Fredrik Ekblom and Tommy Kristoffersson collected more points with positions four and five. At the first corner, one car went off and caused a chain reaction when coming back on the track.

BTCS:
Fire destroys Audi A4 Silhouette

The Belgian Audi Club experienced a black day before the 12 hour race at Zolder which counts towards the Belgian Toruing Car Series. After having built a new car only for the highlight of the season, a fire during the warm up destroyed the car completely. The reason is yet unknown. Audi is eight time winner of the Belgian championship.
