Heinz-Harald Frentzen (OPC Team Holzer) will be starting from seventh place for the invitation race of the DTM at the street circuit of Shanghai tomorrow. With his Opel Vectra GTS V8, Frentzen set a lap time of 1.15.651 minutes in the Super-Pole session for the ten fastest drivers from qualifying.
Fellow Opel-drivers Marcel Fässler (OPC Team Phoenix) and Timo Scheider (OPC Team Holzer) didn't make it into the top ten after accidents in free practice.
Volker Strycek (Opel motorsport director)
"I am satisfied with Heinz-Harald's performance. As for Timo Scheider and Marcel Fässler, we clearly lacked the time from second free practice. Moreover, both of them had to share one rear wing in qualifying. In four years, we never needed one single rear wing, whereas today, we could have used two. Things like that can happen. Now, we are looking forward to the race. For sure, it will be an exciting affair."
Heinz-Harald Frentzen (OPC Team Holzer) 7th
"Unfortunately, I made a mistake at the hairpin. Had it not been for my locking-up there, my time surely would have been four to five tenths of a second faster. All in all, however, I am quite satisfied with the performance. The track is becoming faster and faster, as it provides more grip."
Marcel Fässler (OPC Team Phoenix) 15th
"First of all, I like to say thank you to my mechanics who have got the car in shape again after my accident this morning. Unfortunately, I had to share a rear wing with Timo in qualifying, therefore I only had four laps available. I will play it tactically in the race tomorrow, because for sure, there will be plenty of action."
Timo Scheider (OPC Team Holzer) 18th
"From me also a big hand to the team for a job well done! I also only had four timed laps available, I couldn't make any more of it. For sure, the race won't be easy from this grid position."
Jeroen Bleekemolen (OPC Euroteam) 20th
"We are not that far off the rest of the field, which is not at all bad with a 2002 car. It was a little bit faster again. In the race, overtaking will be difficult. My aim will be to make it to the finish."
