In heats run on Mercedes-AMG GT S cars, Juncadella and Wehrlein defeated Rosberg and Hamilton respectively to emerge as the finalists of the 16-driver, Race of Champions-style knockout tournament.

Among other participants were two-time F1 champion Mika Hakkinen, who lost out to Hamilton, and Michael Schumacher's son Mick, who was eliminated by Rosberg.

The final saw Juncadella defeat Wehrlein in two straight heats in the Mercedes-Benz SLS GT3.
