Oschersleben DTM: Ex-F1 driver Glock claims maiden pole
Former F1 driver Timo Glock will start DTM’s race one at Oschersleben from pole position after achieving the fastest lap in today’s qualifying.

The German lapped the 3.6-kilometer track in 1m19.821s and led home four fellow BMW drivers to score his first-ever DTM pole position.
“This tastes good for sure”, Glock said after the 20-minute session. “You cannot imagine how good this feels. The last couple of races were rather difficult for us. So this result was important for us.
“We have tried something that worked out well. My lap was clean, almost perfect I would say. I’m happy about my first ever DTM pole position.”
It's been a great day for his manufacturer as well. “We are very competitive this weekend”, says Augusto Farfus who will start second behind Glock. Tom Blomqvist, Antonio Felix da Costa and Bruno Spengler completed a BMW 1-2-3-4-5 in qualifying.
Championship contender Pascal Wehrlein was best-of-the-rest for Mercedes in sixth while championship leader Mattias Ekstrom encountered technical problems and will start dead last in 24th.
Ektrom’s fellow Audi driver Miguel Molina lost his car with only a few seconds to go and ended up in the barriers, damaging the front of this RS 5 DTM race car.
Reigning DTM champion Marco Wittmann and his BMW colleague Martin Tomczyk made it seven BMW cars within the fastest ten drivers as Molina and fellow Audi driver Edoardo Mortara rounded out the top 10.
Race one is set to start at 2:55 p.m. local time, with Saturday’s timetable having been modified due to heavy fog in the morning.
