Van der Zande hails ‘perfect’ Red Bull Ring test
Red Bull Ring
Renger van der Zande completed a positive day of testing at the newly-refurbished Red Bull Ring on Thursday. The Dutch DTM driver set the fourth fastest time at the former Austrian Grand Prix venue, putting his Mercedes car right behind drivers with more up-to-date machinery. Despite a small delay in the first hour, van der Zande used the rest of the session well and adapted to the circuit quickly.
"A responder had to be replaced, it was nothing special," the 25-year-old began. "When we went out we were immediately quick, it was just a perfect day of testing. We have to focus on some adjustments to the car in qualifying trim and long runs. We have learned a lot and it looks good for next weekend."
After a very promising weekend in Zandvoort, van der Zande will now take part in Round 3 of the championship at the iconic circuit this weekend. The DTM races will be broadcast on the German ARD network, with the Saturday qualifying show beginning at 12.30, while Sunday’s programme gets underway at 12.45.
