Dome selected as LMP3 constructor

Dome joins Ginetta (United Kingdom), Onroak Automotive (France), Riley Technologies (USA) and Adess AG (Germany) as providers of cars for the bottom rung of the ACO’s endurance ladder.

The ACO had indicated earlier this year that they would limit the constructors to five companies.

The LMP3 machines carry a normally-aspirated 420-bhp V8 developed by Nissan/Nismo, which is being co-ordinated by ORECA. X-Trac supplies the gearbox and Magnetti Marelli will manage the electronics.

Dome Cars was founded in 1978 and initially attempted to build a supercar called the Dome Zero. After the project failed to be homologated for the road, the company switched its attention to motorsport and debuted with the unique-looking Dome Zero RL in the 1979 edition of Le Mans 24 Hours.

Since then, Dome has had 18 participations in famous endurance race, and has also taken part in GT 500, GT 300 and FIA F4 categories.

A Dome F1 project in 1996 saw its F105 car test but unable to race due to an increasingly volatile economic situation in Japan.

However, Dome remains a leading constructor in Asia and its inclusion opens up wide-ranging perspectives on the continent, particularly in the Asian Le Mans Series.
