CRS Racing Silverstone race report

PODIUM JOY FOR CRS AT SILVERSTONE

Just one week after taking a 1-2 finish in British GTs, CRS Racing took to the track at Silverstone this weekend for the UK round of the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup and Le Mans Series. As in all the previous GTE races this year the weekend was tough and the competition was fierce but the team came through to take a podium finish after six hours of hard racing.

It was the No.62 CRS Ferrari of Pierre Ehret, Roger Wills and Tim Mullen that took the honours. Mullen, who qualified the Ferrari in third place brought the car across the line to take the chequered flag and the loud applause of the CRS team.

“It’s great to race in a CRS Ferrari,” said Mullen. “I really enjoyed driving with Pierre and Roger and it feels good to come away with a podium finish. We were fast this weekend and the whole thing was very enjoyable!”

“We were lucky to have Tim helping us with the car set up this weekend,” explained Wills. “We had a car that we all felt good about and the whole race went to plan for us. We had no issues with the car, which ran beautifully throughout. The final stages were nail biting as it was so close but we got there and took the result that we have been waiting for all season. It’s a shame Shaun (Lynn) couldn’t be with us this weekend as we would have liked to share the Champagne with him.”

It wasn’t such a good weekend for the No.82 CRS Ferrari, which suffered with a thermostat problem during the race that required a lengthy spell in the garage to fix. Adam Christodoulou and Phil Quaife continued on though, gathering valuable data for the next Le Mans Series race.

“It was a mixed day for us,” said CRS MD Mark Busfield. “We were well overdue that podium finish as we have been worthy of a good result all season. It’s a poignant day for us as it’s our last international race for the Ferraris in the UK as we now head off to Estoril and then the US and China. The team did a great job this weekend so it’s pats on the back all round and hats off to all!”
