Silverstone: CRS Racing preview

READY TO FIGHT FOR SILVERSTONE SUCCESS

CRS Racing is on a roll at the moment. Andrew Kirkaldy and Tim Mullen came incredibly close to securing the team's first Le Mans Series victory in Budapest a couple of weeks ago and yesterday Rob Foster-Jones took his first and the team's third Formula Renault victory of 2010. As the focus turns to the Autosport 1000kms of Silverstone, the team is hoping for a good result at its home event this weekend.

Andrew Kirkaldy and Tim Mullen had a run of bad luck in the first few Le Mans Series races of 2010, always easily on the pace but one thing or another stopped the results from coming. That all turned around at Budapest where the pair fought hard for the win and were only just beaten into second place.

"I think our chances are very good for the race at Silverstone," said Kirkaldy. "We've always been competitive there and had numerous pole positions over the years. I'm looking forward to racing on the new GP circuit after testing there earlier this year and I'd like to think that Tim and I have every chance of a top result this weekend."

Phil Quaife demonstrated great pace in the No.90 CRS Ferrari at Budapest and he is looking forward to racing at Silverstone where he is aiming to turn that pace into points.

"I'm very excited about the upcoming weekend," said Quaife. "I expect the weather will play a big part in it. I'm standing in the Silverstone pit lane right now and so far today we have had blue skies, cloudy skies, drizzle and sunshine! I think we showed good pace in Budapest so we hope to continue that good work and be up there with the frontrunners. It would be great to get a result in the final round and finish the season on a high."

Silverstone may be the last race in the 2010 Le Mans Series schedule but CRS Racing will be on track at Zhuhai in China in November for the Asian Le Mans Series race, which is also the final round of the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup. The team will field one of its Ferrari 430s, raced by Andrew Kirkaldy, Pierre Ehret and Phil Quaife.

"Like all GT teams, we want a Le Mans entry," said CRS Team Principal Andrew Kirkaldy. "The competition for places for Ferraris is especially tough so we are taking this opportunity to enter the Intercontinental Cup in order to go for the prize of a place in the Le Mans 24 Hours. Zhuhai will be a great challenge for us and we want to do well there."
