Horag-Lista Team to Tackle Silverstone This Weekend

SILVERSTONE, England, Aug. 9 - Now that Horag-Lista Racing has one race under its belt with its new Lista-sponsored Lola B05/40 Judd No. 27, the team is really looking forward to its second Le Mans Endurance Series (LMES) race at Silverstone, England this weekend.

Joining the LMES circuit in mid-season, the team got up to third in the LMP2 class in its first race, which was held at Monza, Italy last month. Unfortunately the team ran into some problems later and didn't finish the event.

Finishing is, of course, the first goal of the team's drivers, Didier Theys and Fredy Lienhard, and the team's owner, Markus Hotz.

"We had many problems at Monza, but we want to see the positive side and learn from our mistakes," Lienhard said.

"This is exactly what I am expecting at Silverstone; a kind of a second chance," he continued. "We have to prove that we are a good team. The objective is to run well in our practice sessions and to finish the race with no problems. If we do, we will be in the top 10, and that would be good enough at this stage. Later on, of course, we want to be in the top five, but we have to take a step-by-step approach.

"I do not know Silverstone at all," Lienhard added. "I know it's quite a fast track, and it will be a real challenge."

Theys has raced here before, but it's been awhile.

"For me, it's the first time in 20 years that I've raced at Silverstone," he said. "My last race there was in 1984 in a Formula 2 race, and of course the track has changed a lot since then. So for me it will be like a brand-new track. Fredy never raced there, so it will be all new to him. Some of the corners are quite technical and some are quite fast. Honestly I just saw the layout on a map, and I have no idea what to expect.

"We had a problem in the race at Monza, but we ran perfectly on Friday and Saturday before the race," Theys pointed out. "I thought that running two days without any problems was a good accomplishment for the team, especially since we haven't had the car very long. Hopefully we'll have better pit stops and better results at Silverstone.

"It's always enjoyable to race in England," Theys added. "It really is the capital of the world for racing. There are a lot of real race fans in England; they like sports car racing.

"Silverstone has 50 entries," he noted. "Half of the cars are GT cars and the other half are Sports Prototypes, so that's quite good for the series, and I look forward to the race."

There are three one-hour free practice sessions during the day and one one-hour free practice session at night on the schedule for Friday. Qualifying is slated for Saturday morning at 9:45 a.m. followed by an autograph session at 2:15 p.m. and the start of the 1,000-kilometer race at 4 p.m. Saturday.

After this weekend's race at Silverstone the team will compete at Germany's famous Nurburgring Sept. 3-4. The team is also scheduled to race in America at the Petit Le Mans American Le Mans Series (ALMS) race at Road Atlanta in Braselton, Ga. Sept. 30-Oct. 1.
