SNORAS Spyker Squadron starts from ninth position in 1000 km of Silverstone.

SNORAS Spyker Squadron driver Tom Coronel set the ninth quickest time for the fifth and last Le Mans Series round, the 1000 km of Silverstone. Dutchman Coronel was one of the first drivers to leave the pit lane. In sunny and mild conditions his times improved in each of the three hot laps he completed, but his time of 1:50.342 was unfortunately not translated into a front row starting position.

Peter van Erp, Managing Director Spyker Squadron: "Qualifying went really well - I think it was truly one of our best qualifying performances this season. This morning we set the 4th quickest time in the third free practice session, in qualifying we were six tenths of a second quicker and we were a bit dazzled that we were only ninth in qualifying this afternoon. Although due to the new rules we have gained 25kg of ballast, the driving hight was increased by 5 mm and the air-restrictor got 5% smaller we are still 1.3 seconds quicker compared to last year. The battle for the championship might contribute to our start position on the grid tomorrow: both Ferrari and Porsche still have a chance to win the Le Mans Series GT2 championship. Ferrari recently did a lot of testing with Dunlop whilst Porsche did the same with Michelin. Nevertheless I think there is a fair chance that we can move forward in the race tomorrow".

Tom Coronel: "I think we have done well in today's qualifying session. Our time was not bad and really constant. The car feels really great; it feels very stable and it is not too difficult to drive on its limit. Just like at Portimao and the Nurburgring, where we did not start from the front rows, we will have too fight our way to the front of the field during the race. We have proofed in recent races that we are more than capable to do that".

The race will start on Sunday at 11h35 (GMT) and it will take the checkered flag no later than 17:35. Eurosport will broadcast parts of the race live on one of their pan-European sports TV channels and via their online web player.
