Spa: Adam Sharpe to debut in TVR

Sharpe to make TVR debut in Spa 1000kms

British GT Championship contender Adam Sharpe will compete in this weekend's Spa 1000kms driving the Salisbury Motorsports TVR alongside Steve Hyde and team regular John Hartshorne. Sharpe, who drives for the Tech 9 Porsche GT3 in this year's British GT series, will make a return to long distance sports car racing having finished both the Sebring 12 Hours and Le Mans 24 Hours earlier this year in the Morgan Works Racing Aero 8 GT car.

"I was delighted to be approached by Salisbury Motorsports and it's terrific to drive the TVR at such a famous track," said Sharpe. "It's also a reunion for me with Steve Hyde after our run at Le Mans in June, and I am looking forward to it immensely. I think anyone who has been to Spa recognizes that other than Le Mans it's perhaps the best driver's circuit left in Europe and the TVR should be really good to drive. I had hoped to get something to add to my campaign with Tech 9 in the British GT series and this matches up perfectly. It's going to be a very useful experience."

The 19 year old from Taunton, Somerset, is setting his sights on a full season in LMES or ALMS next season and working hard to pull a package together.

"I really want to do Le Mans again with Morgan, and if we can put together a full season in LMES then so much the better," admits Sharpe. "The British series is a good stepping stone but ultimately the LMES events are outstanding and that's where my primary goal lies. I have raced enough in America to know that ALMS would offer a strong alternative. Starting with Spa this weekend I certainly hope it's not long before we can put together a full endurance package for 2005."
