The Creation Autosportif team's CA07-Judd, in the capable hands of Britain's Jamie Campbell-Walter, qualified in 7th place for tomorrow's fourth round of the 2007 Le Mans Series at Spa-Francorchamps.
Creation arrived in Belgium following a test a brief test at Magny Cours in France during which the team worked on suspension geometry, and it was with a positive frame of mind that they approached qualifying.
Campbell-Walter, who shares the driving of the "Black Beauty" with Felipe Ortiz and Shinji Nakano, was nevertheless realistic about his and the car's performance this afternoon.
"I think I could have gone a tenth of a second quicker which would have put us up two places on the grid but, other than that, it was a good lap. I made one small mistake at the Bus Stop which on the data shows I lost about a second and a half and that would have got us P5. We've got a good race car and no one's complaining so we're all quite happy.
"We had a good test at Magny Cours and found something which has already gained us a few tenths of a second on a lap in speed. I reckon it could be worth much more if we could explore it further. A couple of days on the shaker rig or in the wind tunnel could gain us a second a lap so that's hopefully what we might be able to work on before Silverstone."
The 1,000 kilometre race will start at 1230 hours local (1130 BST) tomorrow, and will be 143 laps or six hours long, whichever comes first.
