Sarah Bovy to complete Gillet Vertigo Spa line-up
Gembloux 4 July 2007- After a first test at the Belcar race alongside Renaud Kuppens and an extensive test at Colmarberg, Belgian Racing has decided to take on the 18-year old Sarah Bovy to join ex-Formula 1 driver, Bas Leinders and Megane Eurocup Star, Renaud Kuppens in the 24Hours of Spa.
The trio will take part in the 24hours of Spa-Francorchamps with a complete new car; especially the bodywork of the Gillet Vertigo will change. The only parts that will be the same are the ones on display in the picture (rear-wing, door and boot).
Sarah Bovy: "It is an honour for me to take part in this race with the Gillet Vertigo and two very experienced drivers. It's not everyday that you can team-up with a former F1 driver. I am very happy with the first tests we have done with the old car and I am working-out a lot in order to be in perfect shape for this long and demanding race."
It is not the first time that a girl will take the wheel of the Gillet Vertigo. Fanny Duchâteau, Sylvie Delcour and Vanina Ickx already drove the Belgian car.
Tony Gillet : "I like to give young talent a chance to prove themselves. In the last two editions of the race in Spa, we had Jérôme d'Ambrosio who is leading the Formula Masters Championship now. Today we announce Sarah Bovy, a girl who already showed some good speed in various cars and a lot of maturity although she is the youngest driver ever to race in a Gillet Vertigo.
