ATS successful

The Nurburgring 24-Hour Race proved to be an outstanding success for ATS. In the race held from 15th to 16th May, 2010, customer teams equipped with ATS wheel secured eight class wins. And in the class SP3, the ATS team racing a Honda S2000 celebrated a superior win with a big lead over its opponents.

The 38th edition of the legendary endurance race in the Eifel couldn't have been more thrilling and gruelling. 220,000 spectators witnessed one of the most turbulent 24-hour races of the recent past, the retirement of many favourites - and the overall win of BMW. In the end, the lead of the victorious works BMW M3 GT2 over the second placed Ferrari entered by the independent Team Farnbacher amounted to just 3:54.1 minutes when taking the chequered flag.

197 teams had been on the starting grid for the endurance test held on the 25.378-kilometre combination of the Nurburgring's Grand Prix circuit and the Nordschleife. And it goes without saying that one of these teams was the one of wheel manufacturer ATS. At the wheel of the Honda S2000 entered by Mader Motorsport alternated - inter alia - Ralf Schmid, Administration President of the ATS owner Uniwheels Group and Harald Jacksties, the Uniwheels Group's Marketing Director. "For ATS, the most gruelling endurance race of the world represents an outstanding platform for demonstrating the extraordinary quality of our products," underlines Schmid.

The alternative-energies category was won by the Volkswagen works team. Three shining blue bio-natural gas Sciroccos GT24-CNG equipped with 18-inch ATS wheels stormed to the win. Volkswagen and ATS are cooperating closely, no matter if in endurance racing, the single-seater sport or makes cups. Both in the ATS Formula 3 Cup and the Scirocco-R-Cup, for instance, all the vehicles on the grid also are equipped with ATS wheels.

The eight class wins in the 38th ADAC Zurich 24-Hour Race impressively underline the quality of the ATS wheels. "I have experienced a truly tough and exhausting race," says Schmid. "And apart from being happy about our win, I'm also delighted about the fact that we could provide all the teams contesting the race on ATS wheels with such a good technical support."
