Before the final spurt in Spa: No. 79 BMW M3 GT2 right on track.
Spa-Francorchamps, 1st August 2010. Five hours to go in the 24-hour race at Spa- Francorchamps (BE). The no. 79 BMW M3 GT2 driven by Dirk Werner (DE), Dirk Muller (DE) and Dirk Adorf (DE) successfully defended the lead.
The second BMW M3 GT2 with number 78 improved to fourth after putting in a spirited fight back. Jorg Muller (DE), Uwe Alzen (DE) and Pedro Lamy (PT) therefore are still in with a chance of finishing on the podium. Currently Lamy is running seven laps behind the third-placed car.
On lap 338, Dirk Muller set the fastest lap of the race. He managed to lap the 7.004- kilometre circuit in just 2:21.430 minutes.
Jorg Muller (Car Number 78):
"My stint was nice, as the car is performing really well in dry conditions.
Over the
course of the race, the field has shrunk a little due to numerous
retirements. This
gives us the chance to fully focus on this wonderful track, without coming
across
traffic too often. If a chance will open up for us to improve from fourth to
a podium
position, we will be right there and grab it."
Dirk Muller (Car Number 79):
"Up to now this race has gone really positively for us. The car works
perfectly, and
our crew's pit stops were just incredible. There were several safety-car
phases,
during which it was quite chaotic on the track. My last turn was good fun.
Three
double stints are behind me -- but I'm hungry for more. On my fastest race
lap,
everything just fitted perfectly together. In the final hours of the race,
we obviously
want to increase our lead."
