The world's most eco-conscious one-make cup presents itself in Wiesbaden
The new Volkswagen Scirocco R-Cup thrilled fans during the DTM presentation in Wiesbaden. Hans-Joachim Stuck piloted the bio natural gas powered Scirocco R-Cup car that delivers up to 275 hp and will make its racing debut a week from now at Hockenheim around the circuit which had been specifically set up along the "Kurhaus" and the exclusive "Wilhelmstrasse". The brand from Wolfsburg also presented itself in the state capital of Hesse in front of 110,000 spectators with a Dallara F308 Volkswagen fielded by the Motopark Academy team in the Formula 3 Euro Series in which Volkswagen is leading the drivers standings after the season opener with Edoardo Mortara. Both the Scirocco R-Cup and the junior formula class are staged as official partner series of the DTM that will open the season at Hockenheim from April 23 to 25.

Five motorsport legends to compete at Hockenheim
Rally and Sportscar world champions, Le Mans winners, Grand Prix winners and a DTM champion - Carlos Sainz (E), Derek Bell (GB), Martin Brundle (GB), Jacques Laffite (F) and Frank Biela (D) are the names of high-calibre racers to compete in the inaugural event of the Volkswagen Scirocco R-Cup at Hockenheim. The horsepower legends will meet in a dedicated classification within the field of 25 vehicles at the circuit in Germany's Baden region.

Den Boer/Steenmetz with commanding performance at Zandvoort
At the season opener of the Volkswagen Endurance Cup Netherlands the Golf drivers Jeroen den Boer and Rene Steenmetz clinched a clear start-finish victory. Behind the duo from the Oranjedak/DB Motorsport team, Sander Etman and Leonard Batenburg from the RSR team finished as the runners-up with a one-lap gap at Zandvoort. The 2008 overall winners, Ronald Morien and Ferry Duivenvoorde from Team Morien Match 1, came third.

First victory for Scirocco GT24 with electric drive
After the successful performances of the Scirocco GT24 with petrol and natural gas power last year, the sports coupe made in Wolfsburg now celebrated its first win with an electric drive - albeit in 1:24 scale. With TV journalist Daniel Baumler at the controls, the Scirocco GT24 won the Porsche Grand Prix in Hamburg in front of Robert Muller's Lamborghini Murcielago and factory driver Martin Ragginger's Porsche 911. As a result of the victory Baumler took first place in the drivers standings and Volkswagen the lead in the manufacturers standings of the popular slot car racing series.
