First race of the season and there was unquestionably a smaller field, though the quality was high. The young Turks were there - Dannielou took pole position, Dhouailly, Accary and Beaubelique traded the lead - but it was as if a mirror of last season was being held up in front of us once Zollinger, Mondolot and Thuner took the chequered flag, ahead of Rihon, Padmore and Philllips in n°34, and Bazaud, Caillon and Medard aboard n°69. The Ligiers were competitive in terms of speed, but lacked reliability.
