2015 Williams F1 car revealed

We have our first glimpse at what the 2015 Formula One cars will look like.

Courtesy of F1 Racing Magazine, The Williams FW37 has been revealed. In order to comply with new regulations, the elongated nose has been shortened quite a bit.

The new regulations are supposed to improve safety and prevent, or at the very least restrict teams from creating outlandish designs like what we saw in 2014. Things such as the so-called anteater and twin tusk noses are now prohibited. Conformity was also part of the FIA's goal here after seeing the drastic differences between each team. If they were looking for something more aesthetically pleasing though, I don't think they found it with this.

The thinking was that the new restrictions would completely eliminate the protruding nose pieces, but as you can with the FW37, a smaller version of the former look remains. McLaren, Red Bull, Toro Rosso, Force India and Sauber utilized similar anteater nose designs last season.

The new rules put much stricter regulations on the nose dimensions from the bulkhead to the very tip, thus the championship-winning Mercedes nose is both too short and too tall to meet the new standards.

Ferrari's F14 T wasn't too far off of what is now required, however, due to their lack of the success with the design and the overhaul of their internal staff, we can expect Maranello to try something different this season.

So what are your thoughts on this stubby nose design for 2015?
