Williams Formula 1 driver Alex Albon has unveiled a new helmet design for the Singapore Grand Prix. The helmet, which is inspired by the driver's Southeast Asian heritage, will be auctioned off with UNICEF Thailand.

"Introducing my SEA helmet design for the Singapore Grand Prix," Albon shared on social media. "I’m proud to share that I’ll be auctioning the helmet for charity together with @UNICEF_Thailand. All proceeds will go to UNICEF’s work in giving children in Thailand, especially the most disadvantaged, the chance to grow up safe, healthy, and supported, so they can reach their full potential."

The custom-made helmet has been designed by Karlotta Freier. The auction, which is now live and runs through to 15 October, starts at $14,100. The proceeds of the sale will go to UNICEF's Thailand programmes, which work to improve the lives of the most disadvantaged children in the country.

“I’m really proud to be teaming up with UNICEF Thailand to auction my Singapore GP helmet and raise funds to support children who need it most in Thailand,” Albon said. “I hope it also helps highlight the important work they’re doing and inspires more people to get involved.”

“Every baht raised through this auction will help create sustainable impact for children,” said Severine Leonardi, UNICEF deputy representative for Thailand. “We are deeply grateful to Alex for his commitment to giving back and for standing alongside children who need support the most.”

The Thai driver heads into the Singapore Grand Prix on the back of a difficult weekend at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, while his team-mate Carlos Sainz secured his first podium finish with the Grove outfit. He sits eighth in the drivers' standings with 70 points.

"The team had a great result in Baku, so hopefully we can keep building on these results as we head into the back half of the season," Albon said in the Williams preview. "I'm looking forward to racing in Singapore as it always feels like a home race for me and will be great to be back in front of the fans and racing under the lights.

"Singapore is a very different track to Baku; it's a tight track and physically demanding with the heat and humidity, so acclimatising quickly and getting on pace is always a priority. Our focus will be on delivering in qualifying and putting ourselves in the best possible position for the race."
