Zanardi speaks on Williams lay-off

Alex Zanardi has spoken about being dropped by the WilliamsF1 team. "This is the epilogue of a year that started badly. In the end, they didn't have faith in me and I didn't have faith in them. It didn't suit me to stay in a team that would have kept me on only because there was a contract to respect".

"I admire Williams, and I'm not going to spit on the plate where I have eaten for a year, and which will give me money for two more... I've had offers from F1 and the states, but I've said no to everyone. I could have gone back to America with Chip Ganassi or Maurice Nunn, but I don't want any hassles. I'm also lucky that I've earned enough to be able to stop. I'll have a holiday with my wife and watch races on the TV. I've never planned for the future and I won't start now".
