Thirteen drivers took part in the final day of testing this week at the Circuit de Catalunya and Renault's Fernando Alonso set the best time of the day. In the new R24 the Spaniard's 1:15.430 was not as quick as Jenson Button's lap record of yesterday, but faster than the record set by Ralf Schumacher on Wednesday.

Alonso concluded Renault's test working on systems and set ups, while team tester Franck Montagny, seventh fastest, evaluated tyres and electronics.

Ferrari tester Luca Badoer was second quickest and Michael Schumacher fourth, the pair concluding the team's engine, tyre and electronic programme. Ferrari is the next team to launch its new car, on Monday 26th January at Maranello.

For Williams, test driver Marc Gen? was third fastest, Juan Pablo Montoya fifth and Nico Rosberg sixth. Gen? focused on mechanical set up of the FW26, Montoya completed a race weekend simulation started yesterday, also in an FW26 chassis, and Rosberg tested aerodynamics and gearbox in the FW25B.

Olivier Panis was the best Toyota in eighth and tester Ryan Briscoe rounded off the times. Toyota's four-day test with four different drivers saw Panis working on distance runs, tyres and aerodynamics, although Cristiano da Matta, who finished on Wednesday, had problems earlier in the week. Both race drivers tested the new TF104 while Briscoe and third driver Ricardo Zonta used the interim TF103B.

Nick Heidfeld rounded off Jordan's testing week working on Bridgestone tyres and was ninth fastest. He also carried out some suspension evaluation for the new car. After his record-breaking effort yesterday, admittedly in a light-fueled car, Jenson Button was tenth fastest today, followed by BAR test driver Anthony Davidson.

Giancarlo Fisichella closed Sauber's test week with a race simulation and tyre work. The Italian's day was disrupted by an electronic problem but overall Sauber completed its scheduled programme.

McLaren also concluded its private test at Valencia, Kimi Raikkonen ahead of David Coulthard. Eight teams are provisionally scheduled to take to the Valencia track starting on Tuesday 27th for the next test session.
