Mika Hakkinen:
"I'm very happy to claim my 16th victory here in Austria. More
importantly it's a great result for the whole team with today's one-two
victory giving us the lead in the Constructors' battle. We are
definitely on track and I'm back to where I want to be. At the start I
had the advantage that I was on pole, which meant that I could take a
nice and more importantly a clean line into the first corner. Now we
have seven races to go and clearly everything is open."
David Coulthard:
"Today's result is a great one for the team. I knew from the beginning that
I was carrying more fuel than Mika and inevitably he would be quicker in
the opening stages of the race. When I didn't manage to get past
him at the start I decided to look at the big picture, which is the
Championship, and settle for second place."
Ron Dennis:
"A well executed but more importantly disciplined race from both
drivers and the team. They were free to race from the start, but at
the point where we recognised the outcome of the race was subject only
to reliability, we asked the drivers to drop their pace which they both
did. At the end of the day we are a team and the result demonstrated
that."
Norbert Haug:
"Mika put in an excellent performance with David rounding up what
has been a perfect weekend for the team. This was a big step in our
campaign for the World Championship with David now only six points
behind Michael Schumacher and Mika two points behind David. Its good to
head for Mercedes-Benz's home race at Hockenheim leading the
Constructors' Championship by six points."
