Rubens Barrichello has again stated that he will be fighting for the World Driver's Championship this year and is confident that he can give Ferrari team mate Michael Schumacher a run for his money.

"Today I know what I need to be champion," Barrichello said. "I will be close to Schumacher, and if all goes right, I will fight for the title against him."

Despite his confidence, Barrichello recently claimed that Ferrari did not give him as much support as they do four time champion Schumacher. Speaking last month at the team's annual ski trip in Italy, the Brazilian claimed: "I know I will get about 30% to 35% of the attention, and that is increasing."

It's comments like this -- along with other public snipes at Ferrari and Schumacher's No.1 status -- that incurred a rejoinder from the Maranello marque's President, Luca Di Montezemolo, who commented: "If he (Barrichello) takes a step forward in his relationship with the stable and with Schumacher then I don't see why we would change."

Barrichello, who finished third in the Driver's Championship last season, believes McLaren's David Coulthard is not a threat.

"David is very quick and he drove very well in 2001, but I will beat him this time," he stated.
