Benetton Monza test 2001-07-17

This week both Giancarlo Fisichella, B201/04 and Jenson Button, B201/07 will be driving at the Monza circuit in Italy. This test programme is mainly concentrated around aerodynamic work for the low downforce circuits like Hockenheim, where we will race next weekend, and at Monza. As well as this we will be looking at a general set-up for the Italian GP in September, as this will be our only visit to Monza this year. This will include tyre evaluation and to improve the cars performance on curbs, as well as, investigating brake options on this, the hardest circuit on brakes.

"We had a useful first day testing at Monza with both race drivers. It is the first time this year that weTve been able to have a two car test with the B201 which is another small step forward.

"Giancarlo concentrated most of the day logging aerodynamic data and doing a few timed laps.

"Jenson got straight into doing some race set-up work but unfortunately his day was curtailed after 23 laps with a small engine problem which means we have to change the engine for tomorrow. But overall a useful first day!"
