Joseph Kosinski's F1 movie has now crossed $509 million in revenue, truly cementing itself as not only Apple Studios' highest-grossing release, but also as one of the most popular movies of 2025 so far.
The Brad Pitt-led movie has now exceeded $165 million domestically and $344 million internationally. This is incredibly impressive seeing that previous Apple Original Films have struggled to find any level of success so far. To put this into context, F1 has now earned more than both of its movies - Killers of the Flower Moon and Napoleon - that received a wide theatrical release, combined.
This success has been vital for Apple, which is reported to have spent upwards of $200 million on the production. But it's said that Apple will in fact be judging success on its streaming performance when it eventually makes its way onto Apple TV. Given its success in theatres, it's unlikely this will be anytime soon as the company enjoys its momentum.
In fact, the production is about to enjoy a re-release at IMAX on 8 August after the large-format delivered 10% of the movie's opening box office revenue.
F1 has enjoyed highly positive reviews, with Rotten Tomatoes showing 83% from its critics and an audience score of 97%.

"We’re thrilled by the global response to F1 and grateful to the audiences who’ve embraced the film with such enthusiasm,” Jamie Erlicht, Apple’s head of worldwide video, said in conversation with Variety. “This success is a testament to the vision of Joe [Kosinski], Jerry [Bruckheimer], Brad, and Lewis [Hamilton], along with the efforts of the entire cast and crew.
"Together with Formula 1, they’ve created an inspiring cinematic journey that captures the energy and spirit of the sport.”
Analysts are expecting the movie to continue its success, with takings predicted to reach upwards of $550 million. This success has led to Apple reportedly submitting a bid to Formula 1's parent company Liberty Media, worth $150 million a year, for exclusive streaming rights in the United States according to a source of Business Insider.
Negotiations are ongoing, but it's thought that ESPN isn't going to match this offer.
