SAO PAULO, BRAZIL, March 31, 2002 - KL Minardi Asiatech personnel were pleased to see both their cars take the chequered flag at the conclusion of today's Grand Prix of Brazil, particularly as track temperatures during the race were well in excess of 40 degrees C. Mark Webber finished a fighting 11th, despite two unscheduled pit stops - he started the event on a single-stop strategy - one caused by a punctured front tyre and the other by a fuel pressure problem.

If not for the additional stops, he would undoubtedly have scored a second top-10 finish in only his third Formula One start. The same fuelling issue afflicted the car of Alex Yoong, but the Malaysian driver pressed on to take the chequered flag in 13th place. On the positive side, both KL Minardi Asiatech PS02 entries displayed excellent reliability throughout the Brazilian race weekend.

MARK WEBBER

"The car was obviously heavy at the start with the strategy we had chosen, and then we weren't able to stick to our pit stop schedule because of a fuelling issue. The balance of the car was much better on the second set of tyres, but then I had a touch with Massa, which caused a puncture, and I had to make an unscheduled stop, followed by another five laps from the end of the race, for a final splash of fuel. This was a good Grand Prix to get under my belt. I learned a lot today, but I've still got a lot more to do."

ALEX YOONG

"I'm happy to have finished what was undoubtedly the toughest race I've ever done. I can't wait for the power steering system to arrive in Barcelona, though - those last 20 laps today were hard. The boys did a good job from where I sat and it's pleasing to have had good reliability throughout the weekend. Also, the car didn't change from the beginning of the race to the end, which is excellent."

PAUL STODDART, Team Principal

"Despite a valiant effort by both drivers today, a bad pit stop, followed by a fuelling issue that necessitated a 'splash and dash' near the end of the race, denied Mark a top-10 position. Alex also suffered from the same fuel issue, although it didn't cost him so dearly. It's always good to get both cars to the chequered flag, particularly in such hot weather conditions, but it's sad when a pit stop denies a driver the finish he deserves. We will clearly work hard to resolve this issue before Imola."

THE ASIATECH VIEW

Following on from two successful days' practice, both Asiatech-powered cars finished today's Brazilian Grand Prix. The engines showed reliability beyond reproach.

MARK WEBBER: Position: 11th
Fastest lap: 1 min 18.386 secs

ALEX YOONG: Position: 13th
Fastest lap: 1 min 18.837 secs

Chassis allocation
PS02/02 - Alex Yoong (No 22)
PS02/01 - Mark Webber(No 23)
PS02/03 - spare
