BRAZIL GRAND PRIX 9TH - 11TH APRIL 1999

Saturday Qualifying - April 10th

'After an eventful morning's practice, which ended prematurely when the session was red-flagged and eventually discontinued after a heavy accident on the track, the Arrows Team's drivers Pedro de la Rosa and Toranosuke Takagi were able to qualify in 19th and 20th psition respectively. Although Pedro originally held 18th position, a ruling by the Stewards' meant that his fastest lap was disallowed, due to speeding under a yellow flag, relegating him into 19th position.

Pedro de la Rosa - Car 14 - 19th "I was very unfortunate to be held up by Villeneuve on my last lap, but generally I'm happy with my performance. I pushed hard and I felt that I was better than in Australia, however I am disappointed that I lost my 18th position. Tomorrow's race will be very long and hard and obviously I will do my best to bring the car back to base with a good result."

Toranosuke Takagi - Car 15 - 20th "We did not experience any major problems during qualifying however, on my second outing I was slowed down by a yellow flag and on my third oil spillage on the track prevented me from trying to improve on my time."

Prince Malik Ado Ibrahim: "The changeable weather conditions and the lack of warm-up in the morning clearly affected our effort to find the right set-up. Nevertheless, I know that the Team is determined to do well in tomorrow's race."
