Bright lights of the pit lane

Wilux Minardi Cosworth today announces that it has signed an agreement with another Faenza-based company, Vire s.r.l., jointly to promote the innovative Trilly LED safety warning triangle.

Vire has come up with a novel development, which makes this internationally recognised breakdown symbol even more visible in potentially dangerous roadside situations: the reflective surface of the triangle is inset with a series of LEDs (Light Emitting Diodes) which flash brightly and can be seen even in strong sunlight.

By way of a practical, and relevant, test of the Trilly LED safety warning triangle, Minardi personnel incorporated two of the units on the front jack used by the team during pit stops in the course of last weekend's French Grand Prix.

Minardi drivers Gianmaria Bruni and Zsolt Baumgartner both reported that the brightly illuminated triangles made it easier than normal for them to locate the team's pit area as they arrived in the pit lane from the circuit. As a result, the modified jacks will now be incorporated in Minardi's regular array of pit equipment starting at this weekend's British Grand Prix at Silverstone.

Following the successful test, Minardi Team Principal, Paul Stoddart, commented, "We are pleased to cooperate with the Italian company, Vire s.r.l., in the promotion of the Trilly LED safety warning triangle and fully endorse this product, as we would any piece of equipment that can be shown to improve road safety. The fact that it has also proven its worth in the demanding environment of F1 is a bonus for us and a great testament to this worthwhile new product."
