The announcement that Honda has acquired 100% of BAR was no big surprise and Jenson Button believes he and the team now have an even better chance of winning championships together. Honda's continuing involvement with BAR was a major factor in Button wanting to stay with the team rather than go to Williams for 2006. Now Honda has taken over completely, Button's new favourite word appears to be "fantastic".

"Honda buying the team is fantastic news and really shows the strength of their commitment to winning the world championship," he said. "With each of the past three years that I have been with BAR Honda, this team's determination to succeed has been incredible and I have been very proud to be a part of that."

"Everyone knows how much I wanted to stay with the team and a big part of the reason for that was because I could see that things will only get better from here. Honda knows what it takes to win Championships and I have no doubt that they can win more. This team is my best chance of winning the Driver's title and it would be a fantastic achievement if we can achieve our ambitions together."

"The good thing is that nothing will change on a day-to-day level. We have a fantastic structure in the team and that will continue but with greater stability and co-operation. I think we have every reason to feel very excited about next season and the longer-term future and it's fantastic for me that I will be driving for BAR Honda."

Button will be teammates with Rubens Barrichello next year, the Brazilian replacing Takuma Sato, but there's yet to be an announcement in regard to test drivers. Anthony Davidson is speculated to be moving on while Sato is unlikely to settle for a test role and has claimed to have received an offer from a 'new' team. BAR also currently has Enrique Bernoldi as a second tester.

Honda joined forces with BAR in 2000 and the team's best result in the constructors' standings so far was second in 2004, although they've yet to score their maiden victory. This weekend's Japanese Grand Prix is Honda's home event and the manufacturer's 100th race with BAR.
