Canadian GP Sauber Friday notes

Mika Salo and Pedro Diniz finished in seventh and 17th places respectively after pursuing different programmes during today's first free practice sessions for the Canadian Grand Prix.

Pedro Diniz:
I was struggling a little bit for traction all day, and my car felt more nervous than Mika's under braking, but otherwise things were okay.

Mika Salo:
My car felt great today, especially under braking. That's always been one of the strong assets of the RED BULL SAUBER PETRONAS C19, in the trim in which we were running it. The balance was good too. I had a couple of minor problems, mainly associated with traction, but we know what to do to fix them for tomorrow. Today was the hottest in the weather forecast: Saturday and Sunday should be cooler, so things will change. There'll also be more rubber on the track tomorrow, which will im-prove things. Today the circuit was really green, and for some reason the Formula Atlantic cars just don't seem to put any rubber down.

Peter Sauber:
Generally it was a satisfactory day today, and the difference between Mika and Pedro's lap times was due to them running different programmes, with different tyres and chassis set-ups.
