Coulthard: Canada owes me one

West McLaren Mercedes driver David Coulthard is adamant his luck will change going into this weekend's Canadian Grand Prix.

The Scot has completed the race only twice from six attempts, retiring from the lead in both 1997 and 1998. He scored his first World Championship points at the track in 1994 when he finished fifth for Williams, and then went on to finish fourth in 1996 for McLaren.

"I have only ever finished here twice, but scored my first World Championships here. I have also led a couple of races here until I was stopped with mechanical problems. It owes me one."

Last season DC was in contention for a podium finish, until a collision with Eddie Irvine earned him a stop/go penalty, therefore pushing him down the order, ending the race in seventh place.

He added that while he hopes to be in strong contention for the Championship later on in the year, he admits that the motivation of winning in Canada is first and foremost in his mind.

"I hope to be still in a good position come the end (of the season). I believe I have the cane to win here (Canada) and that's all the motivation I need to really push."

He is currently second in the Drivers' Championship on thirty-four points, some twelve-points behind Ferrari's Michael Schumacher and five ahead of reigning World Champion Mika Hakkinen.
