The OrangeArrows team had a Grand Prix to forget at the Nurburgring today when both A22s retired from the race. Jos Verstappen started the race in the T-Car after a fuel pressure problem ruled out the use of his race car. After fighting hard for over sixty laps he retired with an engine problem just a few laps before the chequered flag. Enrique Bernoldi's race ended on lap 30 with a suspected gearbox problem.

The team now heads straight to Magny Cours for the French Grand Prix.

Jos Verstappen
Position: DNF

"The race was really difficult today. I gained five positions on the first lap but after that we couldn't make any headway. I had very little grip during the race so it was hard to push the car to the limit and to be honest we haven't been able to get the best out of the car all weekend. The car then just stopped with an engine problem with just a few laps of the race to go so it's all pretty disappointing. France can only be better!"

Enrique Bernoldi
Position: DNF

"I got a good start and passed two cars on the first lap. After that the race settled down for me until I came in for my pit-stop. I tried to select neutral but it didn't work and the car stalled. The car was running well after that but on lap 30 it got stuck in fifth gear and I had no drive so had to retire."

Mike Coughlan, Technical Director, OrangeArrows

"I think that was a fitting end to the kind of weekend we've had. It sums it all up really. We just haven't been able to make the A22 work at this track. All we can do now is get our heads down and work hard in preparation for the French Grand Prix in a few days time."

Response from Tom Walkinshaw, OrangeArrows Team Principal, regarding questions over 2002 engine supply:

"We have three engine options for 2002. Asiatech was informed this morning to plan without us for next year. We will announce our engine partner for the 2002 season in the very near future."
