European GP Sauber preview

Team RED BULL SAUBER PETRONAS spent three days conducting intensive tests at the Jerez de la Frontera circuit in southern Spain last week, in preparation for the GP of Europe. The work focused on evaluation of a new aerodynamic package, and tyre assessment.

Willy Rampf (Technical Director):
"We had a very positive test in Jerez last week, and with all the developments done, we have achieved another step forward for the RED BULL SAUBER PETRONAS C19. We completed our planned programme, and look forward to turning the promise into a strong performance at the Nurburgring."

Peter Sauber (Team Principal):
"Our test at Jerez revealed that our revised aerodynamics offer further performance advantage, which we will be seeking to realise at the Nurburgring as we chase more World Championship points."

Pedro Diniz (86 GPs, 10 World Championship points):
"My race here last year was pretty dramatic, but for all the wrong reasons! I'm not a believer in lightning striking twice, but I'll be very pleased to get through the first corner unscathed..."

Mika Salo (80 GPs, 26 World Championship points):
"The Nurburgring is one of those modern circuits on which everyone can drive quickly. It's one of the highest downforce tracks we go to, and I think we have another good chance of points this weekend. The weather will be the big thing. Anything can happen there this time of year - from rain to sun. So we will really have to be on the ball, ready to react as it changes."
