September 30, 1995 European Grand Prix Second Qualifying

Grid positions for tomorrow's European Grand Prix remained as in yesterday's first qualifying. After this morning's wet conditions in practice where Mika Salo set an impressive 10th fastest time, the track started to dry with some corners still slightly wet. Few drivers improved their lap times in second qualifying and positions remained unchanged.

Both Mika and Gabriele set their fastest times on their last flying lap. Mika's best was 1 min 23.079 sec and Gabriele's 1 min 24.352 sec. Mika Salo: "The car was a lot better than yesterday and I set the same lap time as yesterday with the track still a little wet. I am pretty happy with this. We ran a little bit too much wing but the feeling was really good in the corners."

Gabriele Tarquini: "This morning I couldn't feel the car in the rain. In qualifying this afternoon, we tried to find the best set-up for the race. I drove with a dry set-up and I should have put on more down force. I am confident for the race."

Harvey Postlethwaite, Managing Director - Engineering: "Mika has worked very well today and found time in the car. I feel confident that he will race well tomorrow. Gabriele is learning fast, but this track in these conditions makes this a difficult task."

Takaaki Kimura, Yamaha F1 Project Leader: "This morning in the wet we found a good setting and were competitive. We are not sure of the weather conditions for tomorrow but we will prepare for either wet or dry conditions, and we will be putting fresh C spec engines in both cars."
