Formula One drivers line half the grid at Speedcar Series opener

The opening race to Speedcar Series Season 2 begins tomorrow at the Dubai Autodrome. 14 drivers will take to the grid representing seven professional teams at the 2-day race weekend.

The list of drivers participating in the Series this year include some of the big F1 names including Johnny Herbert (reigning champion of Speedcar Series Season 1), Jean Alesi, Jacques Villeneuve, Stefan Johansson, Gianni Morbidelli, Heinz Harald Frentzen and Vitatonio Liuzzi who will be making his Speedcar Series debut this season.

They will be pitted against talent from other fields of motor sport including Mathias Lauda, the strong Austrian driver who proved to be a serious contender in Season 1 finishing the championship in 7th place after only having competed in 3 rounds out of 5. Also in the line-up is UAE driver Hasher Al Maktoum, Frenchman Eric Charles, Chinese driver Marchy Lee, Damien Pasini from France, German FIA GT driver Marcel Tiemann and young Austrian Christopher Zoechling a resident of the UAE.
