The F1 movie has been nominated for three BAFTAs in the Best Editing, Best Special Visual Effects and Best Sound categories.

The Formula 1 blockbuster, directed by Joseph Kosinski and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, has received multiple nominations during awards season, with the latest from the BAFTAs.

In the Best Editing category, F1 faces competition from A House Of Dynamite, Marty Supreme, One Battle After Another and Sinners, and in the Best Sound category, it will go up against Frankenstein, One Battle After Another, Sinners and Warfare.

Avatar: Fire and Ash, Frankenstein, How to Train Your Dragon and The Lost Bus are also nominated for Best Special Visual Effects.

This comes after the Brad Pitt-led film was also nominated for four Oscars for Best Picture, Best Film Editing, Best Sound and Best Visual Effects.

The film, released in June 2025, follows nomadic driver Sonny Hayes (Pitt) as he returns to the championship with the struggling APXGP team, alongside rookie driver Joshua Pearce (Damson Idris).

Alongside the star-studded cast, which includes Javier Bardem, Tobias Menzies, Kim Bodnia and Kerry Condon, the movie also features the actual F1 drivers from the 2023 and 2024 seasons.

As it was filmed during race weekends, Pitt and Idris were placed among the grid and paddock with an APXGP garage to achieve a more realistic result.

In addition to cameos from drivers including Carlos Sainz, Fernando Alonso and Charles Leclerc, seven-time champion Lewis Hamilton served as an executive producer on the film.

Since its release, the film has exceeded $630million at the global box office, and talks are already ongoing about a potential sequel.

The 2026 BAFTAs will take place on 22 February at London’s Royal Festival Hall, with Alan Cumming serving as host.
