Committee formed to fight Foulston bid

Paddock stories at Donington Park at the weekend suggested that the BRDC, operators of Silverstone, have set up a committee to fight off the bid for the circuit from Nichola Foulston of Brands Hatch Leisure. According to the stories, the committee features Martin Brundle, Ron Dennis and Sir Frank Williams.

Italian GP under threat, Belgium safe?

The Belgian GP, thought to be in danger last week, now looks safe - for this year at least.

However, the appeal lodged by the Italian prosecutor in the Senna trial has put the Italian GP in September under the cosh. Max Mosley has been pushing hard for a dangerous sports law to be passed in Italy. 'We have had a number of discussions about that and I recently had a meeting with the Italian Minister of Justice. We understand a law is in preparation, we want to see a Europe-wide law which makes it clear that nobody involved in a dangerous sport will be held criminally responsible unless he does something completely outside the rules unforeseen by anybody.'

Trulli joins list at Jordan

Jarno Trulli has joined the list of potential drivers for Jordan next season. His manager, Lucio Cavuto, has said he is considering an offer. He is able to do so, due to Prost performance related clauses - if the team isn't in the top 6 in August, he can walk. Benetton, however, still have options on his services through 2001.

Salo confident he can beat Hakkinen

Mika Salo, standing in for Michael Schumacher at Ferrari, has said that he thinks he can beat his fellow Finn. 'I used to beat him all the time in those days [British F3], I'm sure I can do it again in Formula One.'

Reynard changes place in BAR

Adrian Reynard, erstwhile technical director of British American Racing, has moved into the position of Vice-Chairman, and as such no longer has any direct input in the design of the car. Malcolm Oastler takes over the role of technical director. This follows the stinging critisism of him by Jacques Villeneuve in the last few weeks.

Weber says Schumacher may miss season

Willi Weber, Michael Schumacher's manager, has said that the German may miss the rest of the season to recover fully. "The most important thing is that he gets completely healthy and his leg injuries heal right. After that we will think about a comeback - a pause of three months is realistic. It will take that long for a full recovery."
