Lewis Hamilton has been showered with messages of support from the Formula 1 paddock after he confirmed the passing of his dog, Roscoe.

The British driver announced Roscoe's passing earlier today in a heartfelt tribute to his beloved bulldog. "After four days on life support, fighting with every bit of strength he had, I had to make the hardest decision of my life and say goodbye to Roscoe," he wrote.

Unsurprisingly, his fellow Formula 1 drivers were quick to send messages of support.

George Russell responded: "I’m so sorry for your loss mate," as Hamilton's team-mate Charles Leclerc simply sent a heart. Pierre Gasly, owner of his dog, Simba, added: "So sorry for your loss."

Roscoe was a fan-favourite, and often frequented the F1 paddock over a race weekend. Because of this, most of the drivers formed a bond with the happy little bulldog.

"We are all thinking of you Lewis. We will miss you Roscoe, RIP," Esteban Ocon posted.

It wasn't just drivers who sent their support to Hamilton. Mercedes, the second home of Roscoe since he was adopted by the driver in 2013, also sent a message.

"Our thoughts are with you, Lewis. Roscoe brought so much joy to those who met him and he'll always be a part of our family."

The seven-time champion's current team, Ferrari, had the fortune of being Roscoe's home from home this season: "So sorry for your loss, Lewis. Roscoe was an amazing dog, and he will never be forgotten."

McLaren, the team Hamilton joined when he first climbed the ladder into the championship, added: "Our thoughts are with you, Lewis. Roscoe was a star of the paddock and will be missed."

Red Bull posted: "Really sorry for your loss, Lewis," as Sauber added: "He’ll be so missed in the paddock! Sorry for your loss, Lewis."

Williams, led by James Vowles, the former strategist at Mercedes, posted: "All of our thoughts are with you Lewis. So sorry for your loss," as Vowles added: "My deepest condolences Lewis. Thinking of you both."

Alpine, struggling at the bottom of the constructors' standings, joined the messages of support: "So sorry for your loss, Lewis. We’ll miss seeing Roscoe around the paddock."

F1 itself posted: "Rest in Peace Roscoe Hamilton, a true star in his own right.

"Lewis Hamilton’s beloved Roscoe brought smiles to the paddock and warmed the hearts of fans all over the world. Our thoughts are with Lewis during this difficult time.

"Rest easy Roscoe, from paddock pup to Dogue icon, thank you for the pawprints you left on all of our hearts."

As did the FIA: "The FIA family is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Roscoe. Our thoughts are with you Lewis."

It is clear Roscoe had many fans and supporters around the paddock (and the world). The friendly, beloved dog will certainly be missed.
