Fauzy to test Spyker again

Malaysian ace Fairuz Fauzy has been given a second Formula One test chance after his impressive debut run last week. Fairuz flew to the Spanish city of Barcelona on Monday and will test for the Spyker Formula One team again at the grand prix circuit tomorrow (Tuesday, February 27).

Fairuz will be given the task of simulating a complete grand prix distance at the wheel of the new 2007-spec Spyker F8-VII. The 25-year-old will complete at least 66 laps of the demanding 4.655km Circuit de Catalunya as if he was competing in the Spanish Grand Prix itself.

It will be Fairuz's first run at the new Barcelona circuit following alterations to the final turn over the winter. A new right-left hand corner has been added to slow the cars down into the final turn.

Fariuz was delighted at the chance to run again. He said: "I have to thank the Spyker Formula One team for getting a second opportunity to test so quickly. The testing at Valencia last week went really well and I felt that as a team we gelled together very quickly. I'm looking forward to running with them again on the Barcelona grand prix circuit."

Fairuz completed over 300km in Valencia last week, which was enough for F1 tester to gain his Formula One superlicense. For his second test in Barcelona, as well as simulating a grand prix distance to test his stamina and fitness, the Malaysian will also get a race to complete a series of tyre runs to analyse the new Bridgestone Potenza rubber for the team.
