Fernando Alonso has taken delivery of an Aston Martin DBX S as he adds yet another high-performance car from the British marque to his collection.

The two-time Formula 1 champion took delivery of the £210,000+ performance SUV in Monaco and was pictured posing alongside it outside Aston Martin's Monaco dealership. Receiving the car just days before Christmas, this is a present the majority of us would have been more than pleased with.

“A festive Christmas to remember for @fernandoalo_oficial, as we just had the pleasure of delivering him his brand new Aston Martin DBX S,” the post read. “All the Aston Martin Monaco team wishes you a merry Christmas and a happy holiday season!”

Alonso himself responded to the post, commenting: "Outstanding."

The DBX S, finished in what looks to be Ultramarine Black, is a rather inconspicuous colour for a two-time champion who also owns an Aston Martin Valiant and a Mercedes-Benz CLK GTR.

With 727bhp on tap, the DBX S is one of the most powerful SUVs to come from the brand and one of the most powerful on the market. Thanks to a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 sourced from Mercedes, pushing power through a nine-speed transmission and a lighter chassis compared to the base DBX, it can hit 62mph in just 3.3 seconds and boasts improved agility.

“By far the best sport SUV around… Happy Fernando,” a follower wrote on the post. And with almost 50,000 likes on the post in only a few days, it's clear others agree.

This car comes as the driver looks forward to what could be an impressive season for the team next year. After substantial investment and the addition of Adrian Newey as team principal, the squad is hoping to finish higher than seventh in the constructors' standings.

"We switched focus in April, more or less," Alonso said following the season's end in Abu Dhabi. "And I mean, I'm optimistic because it's a reset of things, you know. Everyone has the chance to do a better job than the others - we start from scratch. So that's one thing that offers always hope.

"We have our new facilities completed now, we have our own wind tunnel. We have Honda as engine supplier only for us, Aramco, Adrian Newey. So, we have some good things to be optimistic.

"But this is a very competitive sport, and everyone is doing a very good job. So we'll see. I'm relaxed. You know, it's a long championship ahead."
