Ferrari Monza test 2001-07-17

Today was the first day this year that Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro has tested at Monza. Michael Schumacher started driving at 9.30 in an F2001, working on car set-up. During his twenty first lap (best time up to then 1.25.992,) Michael had an accident at the Roggia corner, when he suddenly lost downforce at the rear. Initial inspection of the car and analysis of the telemetric data, shows that the loss of downforce could have been caused by damage to the car's under-floor, as a result of running over the kerbs at the chicane just before Roggia. After a short check-up in the circuit medical centre, Michael was given a clean bill of health and returned home.

Chassis 209 is damaged and therefore the Monza test was ended for the day, but will continue starting tomorrow afternoon, with Rubens Barrichello driving chassis number 212.

Testing at the Fiorano circuit - 17th July 2001

Driver: Luca Badoer, F2001 chassis no. 213

First day of testing this week for Luca Badoer at the Fiorano circuit. Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro's official test driver started work at 10.40, to begin a programme of set-up and electronics testing. The day ended at 18.00 with 58 laps completed (12 of them on the short course.) The best time of the day was a 1.00.677. Luca Badoer continues testing at this track tomorrow.
