Problems for Schumacher A lot of work for Irvine

Mugello, 16th September

Circuit: Autodromo del Mugello, 5.250 km. Drivers: Michael Schumacher, F 300 chassis number 186 Eddie Irvine, F 300 chassis number 183. Weather: air temp. 18-22 C, track 20 -35 C, sunny with clouds. This was the second day of testing for Scuderia Ferrari-Marlboro in preparation for the Luxembourg Grand Prix, to be held on Sunday 27th September at the Nurburgring track.

At Mugello, Michael Schumacher only ran in the morning as his F 300 had a gearbox problem and it had to be taken back to Maranello to be repaired for testing due to take place tomorrow at Fiorano. The German driver only did 31 laps therefore, with a best time of 1m 27.586s, while working on set-up and various types of tyre. Eddie Irvine drove all day, concentrating on aerondynamic tests and in the afternoon, tyre work. The Irish driver completed 107 laps with a best time of 1m 27.553s. Testing continues tomorrow: Irvine at Mugello and Schumacher at Fiorano.
