Ferrari to run new bargeboards

Ferrari have dumped their Malaysian bargeboards in favour of new ones, despite having them rule legal by the FIA.

Jean Todt defended the move "We could have remained as we were. We have clearly said it was a manufacturing problem which took us to the maximum tolerance of five millimetres, but we thought it was easier to put it at zero tolerance. We do not do the technical check but will have to make sure this time. We will be very careful about the legality aspect or our cars so we will make a double or triple check before the race"

Norbert Haug of Mercedes is to have an audience with the FIA to clarify what the regulations actually are.

Davis switches to Arrows

Dr John Davis of Jordan has moved to the Arrows team alongside Mike Coughlan. He had been at Jordan for 3 years.

"We have been looking for someone to join the new line-up we announced this summer. John’s skills will compliment those of Mike, Egbhal and Dan" said Tom Walkinshaw "I am confident this is another step in the right direction to provide the improved package we must have to be competitive next year"

Kristensen to replace Zanardi?

Following Tom Kristensen's surprise call-up to test for Williams at Magny Cours last week, he is now seen as the favourite to replace Italian Alex Zanardi at Williams. Williams have defended Zanardi all season, but patience is believed to be wearing thin, with little sign of improvement over the season. Kristensen's position is further strengthened, as he is known to be a favourite of BMW motorsport-boss Gerhard Berger.

Bernie sells big stake in FOA

Bernie Ecclestone is believed to have struck a deal to sell approximately half of Formula One Administration.

A 12.5% stake has been sold to Morgan Grenfell for $325m, with an option to purchase a further 37.5% for $975m through Deutsche Bank. 21 Investimenti, part of the Benetton families empire, also has an option to purchase a 37.5% stake, which Morgan Grenfell has an option on.

This values F1 television rights at approximately $2.6b.
