French GP Friday Sauber notes

Pedro Diniz:
I had an ongoing problem trying to find the best brake balance, and naturally it was particularly difficult going into the Adelaide hairpin where you use the brakes the most and it’s easy to lock up a wheel. For me it was a matter of working away all the time sifting through the data from last week’s test, looking for the optimum set-up.

Mika Salo:
The conditions today were a long way off what they were in last week’s test, and with the changing ambient temperature we were continuously chasing the right set-up. We did a good job. We tried running with less downforce this morning, which wasn’t the right answer, but this afternoon the car felt fine. I was still struggling a little bit for traction, but the driveability of the engine is much better since Canada.

Peter Sauber:
We had another normal Friday practice day, working on preparation for qualifying and the race. We had no technical problems, and I am pleased with the way things went for Mika because this track is very sensitive to change in the ambient temperature, so as a team you have to be able to react quickly to make the right changes to keep on the pace.
