The 2019 French Grand Prix may not have been the most exciting spectacle, but there were still plenty of performances that have earned praise

It wasn't until Q3 that Hamilton hit his stride, demolishing Valtteri Bottas with two laps good enough for pole – but it could have been even better had he not lost the rear end at the penultimate corner to a gust of wind. Exemplary in the race, he had the advantage over Bottas in terms of pace and tyre management.
VERDICT: An outstanding performance. The only reason he misses a perfect 10 is the knowledge that he could have been a little faster in qualifying.
