Pole man Lewis Hamilton, Mercedes AMG F1, celebrates after Qualifying

It wasn't until Q3 that Hamilton hit his stride, demolishing Valtteri Bottas with two laps good enough for pole – but it could have been even better had he not lost the rear end at the penultimate corner to a gust of wind. Exemplary in the race, he had the advantage over Bottas in terms of pace and tyre management.

VERDICT: An outstanding performance. The only reason he misses a perfect 10 is the knowledge that he could have been a little faster in qualifying.
