George Russell unveils his new $2.7 million "dream" hypercar ahead of Miami GP

Russell is building quite the car collection as he adds Mercedes' new hypercar to his garage.

George Russell has revealed his new $2.7 million hypercar to the world ahead of the Miami Grand Prix. Describing it as his "dream car," this limited-edition Mercedes-AMG ONE is certainly a crown jewel of his collection.

The British driver shared photos of him alongside his new car on social media as he joins an exclusive list of owners, including Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg.

Taking his new hypercar for a spin in Monaco ahead of travelling to Miami, the Mercedes driver posted the following to Instagram:

"MY DREAM CAR!!! So honoured to own this car and it's been a dream of mine ever since I joined Mercedes F1 back in 2017!! Crazy that the engine is a modified version from our 2015 F1 car – the first ever Mercedes F1 car I drove. What a beast!!!"

Worth approximately $2.72 million, this is one of just 275 units ever produced worldwide - each of which are hand built by Mercedes-AMG. But what makes this car even more extraordinary is the Formula 1 technology embedded within it. Powered by a hybrid powertrain producing 1,049 horsepower, it shares a number of technologies with its race-going counterparts.

At its heart sits a Mercedes-Benz PU106B Hybrid engine – a 1.6-litre turbocharged 90-degree V6 engine - a modified version of the engine used in Mercedes' dominant hybrid era cars. In fact, it's one of the most successful F1 engines of all time, with it only being surpassed by Honda after Red Bull's domination in 2023.

The combustion engine alone produces 566 horsepower, but a complex hybrid system contributes another 483 horses via four electric motors. This results in impressive performance figures, including a 0-62 mph time of just 2.9 seconds. If Russell keeps his foot in it, it will reach 124 mph in an impressive 7.0 seconds and top out at a blistering 219 mph.

Thanks to this performance, since its production began in 2023, the AMG ONE has set a number of track records. It became the first production car to dip below 6:30 at the iconic Nurburgring with a time of 6:29.090 minutes, and holds the production car lap record at Hockenheim.

With Russell now in Miami for the race at the International Autodrome, the team hopes for a "more competitive showing."

“We have had a good start to the season but we have no sense of entitlement or complacency," said team principal Toto Wolff in the team preview as he looks ahead to the weekend.

“We want to continue, and build on, the positive trajectory we have established so far in the first five races.

“Saudi Arabia was a more challenging Grand Prix but, with temperatures high and the same tyre compound range as in Jeddah, we have plenty of learnings we can take into this weekend.

“We are therefore hopeful of a more competitive showing.”
