Haas appoints Maini as F1 development driver
GP3 driver Arjun Maini has joined the Haas Formula 1 team as the American squad's second development driver alongside Santino Ferrucci.

Maini, 19, first came into limelight when he finished runner-up in the 2014 British BRDC F4 championship, narrowly beaten by now-Mercedes junior George Russell.
He then spent a full season in European F3, and also started 2016 there, but a lack of success prompted a mid-season move to GP3.
The change of categories paid dividends, with Maini securing a podium finish in his only fourth GP3 race at the Hungaroring. He went on to finish 10th in the championship, despite missing the first two rounds.
“It’s an honour to be a part of Haas F1 Team’s driver development program,” Maini said.
“All of my racing to date has been with the focus of becoming a Formula 1 driver, and this opportunity puts me one step closer to my goal.
“I am eager to learn, understand and experience how a Formula 1 team operates. Everything I learn can be used immediately in GP3 while preparing for my ultimate goal of Formula 1.”
Like fellow Haas junior Ferrucci, Maini will continue to race in GP3 in 2017, having signed to race for Jenzer Motorsport.
Maini will also attend several F1 races from Haas’ garage, while completing simulator work back at the team's Banbury factory.
Team boss Gunther Steiner commented: “As Haas continues to mature, we must look toward our future and develop potential talent.
“Arjun was successful in karting and has transitioned well to various series and now GP3. We’ll keep a keen eye on his progress this year.”
