Honda confirms three year BAR deal

British American Racing and Honda have agreed a three year deal for engine supply. Craig Pollock said 'It is very exciting news that Honda has decided to return to Grand Prix racing as a partner with British American Racing. It is a company with an illustrious heritage in motor sport, and you can be sure that together, British American Racing and Honda wil be aiming to add more storied of success to the Formula One history books in the years to come.'

The team will be called British American Racing Honda. Both companies will be involved in development of the chassis, with new areas of development coming from Honda. The team will have the same spec engines as Jordan. Honda confirms supply to Jordan

Jordan Grand Prix have announced that their engine supply deal with Mugen Honda has been extended by a further two years. The statement issued by Jordan says "Honda will design and develop the engines which will be supplied through Mugen Co Ltd to Benson & Hedges Jordan on an equal specification basis". It doesn't say who's engines they will be equal to.

Eddie Jordan was quoted saying "This is great news for Jordan Grand Prix. The combined support of Honda and Mugen with an equal engine supply until the end of 2001 gives the team the stability it requires to mount an even stronger World Championship challenge". Honda Racing Developments has last run

It is believed that the Honda Racing Developments ran for the last time yesterday. After testing was completed, test driver Jos Verstappen went around all the team personnel to thank them for their efforts. There are still rumours that the team may be bought out by Bernie Ecclestone, and could enter next year with Supertec engines. BAR confirms end of Supertecs

British American Racing have confirmed that they will not use Supertec engines next season. Craig Pollock said "We have been very pleased with the engine, but the deal we had in place with Supertec did not allow us to develop a long-term strategy and we found we could not reach an agreement on this and taking into account the interest and expectations of both parties, we have mutually agreed not to extend the engine supply partnership between Supertec and British American Racing for a second year"

Supertec has said it has had interest in the supply from other teams - thought to be Arrows, Sauber and Minardi. BAR, meanwhile, are expecting to announce their new engine supplier within days.
