The BBC Sports Personality of the Year awards ceremony is set to take place later today.
2025 Formula 1 champion Lando Norris has been shortlisted for the main award, alongside footballers Hannah Hampton and Chloe Kelly, rugby union player Ellie Kildunne, darts player Luke Littler and golfer Rory McIlroy.

The 2025 BBC Sports Personality of the Year awards are set to take place on Thursday 18 December at 7pm GMT. The event will be hosted by Gabby Logan, Alex Scott and Clare Balding.

The 2025 BBC Sports Personality of the Year awards will be broadcast live on BBC One and BBC iPlayer. For those watching in UK, it will also be available via the BBC Sport app and website.

Voting will open during the live broadcast of the show. Fans will be able to vote online and the full details will be confirmed during the show.
What are the categories at the BBC Sports Personality of the Year awards?
- Sports Personality of the Year
- World Sport Star of the Year: Footballers Mariona Caldentey and Mohamed Salah are nominated alongside boxer Terence Crawford, baseball player Shohei Ohtani and athletes Armand Duplantis and Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone.
- Helen Rollason Award: Recognises an outstanding achievement in the face of adversity.
- Young Sports Personality of the Year: Footballer Michelle Agyemang, darts player Luke Littler and cricketer Davina Perrin are nominated.
- Coach of the Year. First won by Sir Alex Ferguson in 1999, the Coach of the Year award is given to a coach who is considered to have made the most significant contribution to British sport in that year.
- Team of the Year: The England women's football team, the England women's rugby union team and the European Ryder Cup team have all been nominated in this category.
- Lifetime Achievement Award: Former footballer Thierry Henry will receive the Lifetime Achievement award this year.
